The Forest/Deforest

With this pair of designs I wanted to highlight the destructive impact humanity is having on the planet, particularly in regard to deforestation. For 'The Forest' I aimed to conjure a feeling of serenity and safety in the viewer through my choices of colour and uniform repeating shapes. In stark contrast, ‘Deforest’ is chaotic and bleak with its representation of the same forest but this time in flames. The greatest challenge for these pieces was to convey my intended message and stir the desired emotions in the viewer while still making visually pleasing pieces of wall art that would stand both together and separately.

These designs went on to inspire a range of seasonal designs which, along with the originals, have become some of my most popular designs.
